Optimize your Path of Exile experience with the NeverSink loot filter.
To appreciate NeverSink’s loot filter, you need to appreciate Path of Exile. Path of Exile is a free-to-play aRPG by Grinding Gear Games. The game is probably best known for carrying on the legendary traditions of Diablo II after Blizzard went a somewhat different route with Diablo III.
Path of Exile is a loot game, and lots of loot drops. Not only does a lot of loot drop, but the number of possibilities for any particular item are staggering. Path of Exile is also a trading game. You probably won’t find everything you need on your own. But what you will find is items coveted by others, which you can tell sell for currency, which you can then use to buy the items you do want.
Whew. Got it? That’s Path of Exile in a nutshell, and too much loot appears on your screen at any given time to sort through it manually. That’s where the concept of loot filters come in. The game lets you load a loot filter, which your client then uses to hide items you deem not valuable and to draw your attention—with audio and visual cues—to items that you do deem valuable. The more valuable the item, the more intense the notification.
As a new player, knowing what is and what is not valuable can be daunting. Even experienced players make mistakes, and it takes time to get experience. NeverSink’s loot filter, which is free to download and use, makes it easier on new and even intermediate players by highlighting the items that have value for the average player. You may not know why the filter drew your attention to a particular item, but you can pick it up anyway and do some research when you get back to your hideout.
The loot filtering API built into Path of Exile by Grinding Gear Games is powerful. NeverSink’s loot filter reflects that, and the reason why this has become the de facto standard for loot filters is because NeverSink has done an amazing job making the complex simple for new players. As you become more advanced, you’ll inevitably want to customize this filter more. The learning curve on the higher-level customization is a bit more complex than we’d like but still much simpler than doing it from scratch.
